Moe's Recent Battle and Victory over Cancer
Moe has run 118 Ultra-marathons (longer than 26.2 miles).
At 67 years of age he is not intending to stop running them unless stopped by fate. Moe has had (as of June 2011) a fairly long recovery battle because of throat cancer. After going from his normal 183 lbs down to 148 lbs, finally being on IV in Hospital in Victoria for 7 days. Plus 6 weeks of Radiation and Chemo treatments prior, not being able to run, even walk really for 3 months. This was his first absence from RUNNING in 31 years!
But now MOE IS BACK!
He has grabbed Cancer by the THROAT as it were ,shook the hell out of it...and is cancer free. This year 2012 Moe will run the following trail runs:
Sun Mountain 50 km in May
Scorched Soul 50 km in June
Leadville,Co 100 miler in Aug
Possible Oct or Dec ultra as well.
Moe has been running again, for over 4 months now, doing 3-4 ULTRAS as mentioned for 2012. He always had a pretty good diet but now he is a VEGAN/Raw Foods devotee as he will only use the most NUTRIENT DENSE foods available to restore and maintain his health. Food is FUEL more than entertainment/pleasure.... FOOD is MEDICINE for LIFE!!
